There are historic rivalries within many countries: Germany, Italy, Spain, US too, to name a few. Some of those countries have had recent civil wars, others haven't. Existing fault lines are where politicians can most easily seek to make conflict occur, but they don't necessarily *cause* war.

I have only improved, never yet ruined, a recipe by doubling the prescribed garlic.

Tesla is fun because as an American I can annoy both Serb and Croat nationalists. Sure, we can speculate that if Tesla were alive today he'd be a Serb or a Croat.

But we *know* he thought of himself as an American because he got naturalized! So he's ours now. (He can also be yours, of course.)
