I cannot for the life of me remember if these were rose hip or crab apples. It's a sour and bitter fruit, little sweetness. Could make a nice jam or preserve, maybe even a wine.

We make these roses at an old blacksmiths shop in the old port of Echuca, all handmade and hammered except for the leaf attached to the stem. I like to think that if the blacksmiths of old had TIG welders they'd use them too.
