There's also this piece from a South Korean magazine which further adds to the confusion. The title of Mean Bean in Korea is "Operation Dongguri Eradication (Puyo Puyo)," not just in this page but in general. This magazine straight up uses Puyo in the 2nd screenshot and has Puyo character artwork.

The back of the cartridge also shows this, as the molded SEGA logo is still there. Super Aladdin Boy cartridges usually have either no molded logos at all on the back or have a Samsung logo instead. Also a white stripe underneath the label is visible to the right, which is from JP cartridges.

Early copies of Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine in South Korea were VERY literal reskins of Puyo Puyo. Like, taking pre-existing JP Puyo cartridges and slapping a Korean Mean Bean label on them kind of literal. No one seems to know why this was ever the case either.

It primarily shows Robotnik himself on the left, with Coconuts and Grounder also to the right but Grounder is cut-off halfway. Looking closely where this cut-off happens, we can see some kind of artwork underneath that doesn't match the Mean Bean artwork. A Japanese "Puyo Puyo" cartridge for the "SEGA Mega Drive." Arle Nadja can be seen front and center, with Carbuncle appearing over her right shoulder. Puyos can also be seen to the left and right. Notice how the right side of the artwork with Arle's flowing hair and some Puyos matches up with what was underneath the South Korean Mean Bean cartridge art.

Speaking of things I've done recently, although I'm sure some could put 2 and 2 together, I finally read all of Keiichi Arawi's CITY! I've been meaning to do so for a while now, but wanted to make sure I had the proper time to dedicate to it. It was fantastic and I cannot wait for the anime in July!

My fan card that was made on Sonic Channel, an official Japanese site for Sonic the Hedgehog. It features a background with Green Hill from Generations, and a pink bear avatar with a white muzzle created like they came from Forces. The bear has a red clown nose, a purple top hat, a purple bow tie at the "neck" and blue circular glasses similar to Eggman's.
