The Govt committed publicly to chipping in 42.5% of the cost of public hospitals by 2030.

But we’re now told that that is actually unlikely to happen.

Public hospitals are experiencing huge demand, so it’s frustrating to see the promises but no firm commitment on delivery.

I can’t make it make sense. There is no sensible centre when urgent dramatic action needs to be taken. Sitting on the fence doesn’t cut it.

We’re already in a climate emergency.

Every fraction of a degree C makes a big difference to life on Earth and future generations.

Here’s an angle for a journalist looking for a fresh take on the White House “Antifa” roundtable — most of the people who participated are employed by or have a direct financial connection to Turning Point USA. I think that’s pretty telling, no?

“Someone” cancelled my family’s flight out of the country at the last second.

We got our boarding passes. We checked our bags. Went through security. Then at our gate our reservation ‘disappeared.’

theres always another election to win
michellesuiter.bsky.social
When you have 94 seats, why are you negotiating with the opposition, who only have 43
There is no need to negotiate when you already have the numbers
Unless, you want to weaken these laws and ensure it passes the senate
Expect a whole lot of nothing #auspol

every person making similar statements like this should preface them with who they voted for

if it was Trump or didnt bother, they chose this

and people saying things like this wanted their neighbours to lose their health care, and then demand our sympathies for themselves

“Despotism doesn’t impose itself on everyone all at once. It creeps inward from the margins of society. We need to remind ourselves, constantly, that in the median experience of tyranny, life’s largely unchanged. Even the median experience of those being tyrannized can be free of intolerable forms..

Watching so many people in high places go through the motions of polling and median-voter whispering can make you feel like you're in Bodysnatchers. It's worth a reminder that the typical experience of tyranny is...basically normal life. Which means we have to will ourselves to fight harder.
The Median Experience Of Tyranny
If the politics of tyranny were self-discrediting, we wouldn't need mantras like "never again."

Stephen Miller said the quiet part out loud. Trump has “plenary authority,” then suddenly went silent. Their plan wasn’t to be public yet. Clearly, someone hit the panic button in his earpiece.

It gets weirder: CNN uploaded the interview with the “plenary authority” comment edited out.

I grew up in Lozells, just a stone’s throw from Handsworth — where much of my family still live and where I went for sixth form. It’s a proud, diverse, working-class community.

Robert Jenrick called it “as close as I’ve come to a slum” and complained he “didn’t see another white face.”

This is white-supremacist thinking dressed up as “legitimate concerns”.

The political and media establishment normalises this racism, but we won’t stay silent. We stand with all our communities and against the far-right.

Robert Jenrick "The Star of David should be displayed at every point of entry to the UK."

That's a big no from me, religion and state should not mix and Israel have co-opted the Star of David to mean Israel.
