7. This video shows how my AutoCraft extension generates Berlin subway navigation from a web interface.

The signs are on the map on the website, and InDesign creates the layouts on your computer!

6. One extension can work in Illustrator and InDesign.

Why? For example, my Extension “AutoCraft” extension can create templates based on layouts from Illustrator and upload them to the site in the required project. And then this same extension creates layouts from this project in InDesign.

5. A few development details.

This is what testing the extension looks like: the browser displays a panel that is also in InDesign. Clicking buttons in the browser launches scripts in InDesign. Here I am testing loading data from Excel.

4. If you have your scripts that you use, you can place their launch in Extension and launch them using buttons on the program panel.
These scripts can be stored somewhere (for example, Dropbox) and updated from an external site without updating the extension. The extension will monitor the version.

3. In short, the Extension is like DataMerge, only it can additionally:
— take data from the Internet,
— select the desired master template,
— configure and apply typography parameters before layout (as in the picture),
— perform custom functions,
— upload finished files.

2. If you have your websystem, my Extension can connect to it via API or directly to the DB and download data for layout.

The extension can recognize the data, apply the required master template, layout and download, for example, PDF files with the required preset. In one click.

This is my favorite feature: JP can change shapes without distortion - for example, fitting arrows to the sign:

Here is the tracker template, which consists of 3 elements:

1. The name.
2. The arrow.
3. The names of the left direction.

The size of the sign is determined by the content, the vertical arrow also fits the bottom border of the sign:

If you specify a Google table with column arranged data, you can download all layouts in one ZIP archive in 1 click. You can click on the layout name in the list to preview the layout before downloading.

Who can use it: Road signs, Navigation, Plates, Blanks, Signposts, Business cards.

Autocraft runs on Canvas and is very fast because it is written in pure JavaScript without any libraries.
