The Posse Comitatus Act limits the power of the federal government to order military personnel to engage in enforcing domestic policies within the US. There are some exceptions and you can look them up and read them yourself. Different regulations apply to the National Guard.

During Trump’s first disaster of a presidency, there had also been discussions about whether or not to reactivate and court martial those military veterans who had been critical of him and it was again determined to be a bad precedent to set.

Of course, that’s a possibility but acknowledging that doesn’t change what the thought process was at the time of considering whether to court martial Flynn.

The Catholic Church and their Catholic Charities arm may be targeted next but then it should get even more wild since six of the Supreme Court justices are Catholic. If there is a case brought before them, how would they vote 🤨

It was considered at the time but ultimately determined that it would draw the military into a more political atmosphere, which needs to avoided.

Flynn was retired when he last bent the knee during Trump’s previous presidency. In order to court martial him, he would have to be recalled to active service and it was determined that would be detrimental to trying to keep the active military apolitical.

Can’t wait until they do this same thing with the Catholic Church and it’s huge charity arm, Catholic Charities. If it is challenged and goes to the Supreme Court how will the six Catholic justices vote 😱
