The first place I worked used 3 spaces. So it has always seemed normal to me.

2 is too small to differentiate, 4 is wasting horizontal space. 3 really is the goldilocks of spacing.

Also the cost of bringing a pool up to hottub-like temperature for a winter weekend, is somewhat close to the cost of heating the pool for the whole summer :O

Didn't know that the first time. Quite the revelation.

The first year we owned our house, we didn't know how to properly close the pool for winter, and put off calling an expert...

Then it snowed.

So we had a party. Kids brought all their friends (and parents). Kids would roll in the snow then jump back into the (heated) pool.

Became an annual event.
