one source indicates during the years 2023-2024, a total of 2 books were banned in Illinois. That same year, 4561 books were banned in Florida. #1 topic for books banned are those that discuss LGBTQ stories/character. #2 topic are those about race/racism and the black experience

despite expectations that people would react negatively, I still found it interesting because Chicago is a blue, progressive city with a progressive mayor and large LGBTQ community. I didnt actually think people would still leave negative comments where they usually get drowned out by the majority

just started this podcast, only a couple years late. so I looked up "Two Boys Kissing" in the Chicago Public Library and I find it a little surprising to see a few people comment negatively such as calling for the book to be burned, banned or shaming the library for having the book.
