The Demented Don has immunity for any actions taken as part of his job, true. The Supreme Court justices don't have that immunity. So our next President can fire (and/or prosecute) 6 Supremes and replace them with nonpartisan judges. No need to impeach them!

Don't think it was tested in court, but didn't Ford pardon Nixon for future prosecution that hadn't happened yet?
November 30, 2025 at 6:01 PM
Just curious, are Trump's pardons signed with the Autopen? If so, according to Trump they're void.

Whisky Pete may escape the Hague, but he'll never be able to leave the US. He won't even be able to visit his spiritual cousins in Russia. Are there any direct flights that don't transit another country's air space?

After WW2, several U-boat officers were tried and executed. Their crime was gunning down floating survivors from a ship they had sunk. Perhaps it's time we stopped being soft on crime?

Don't forget South Africa. White immigrants from there are granted "honorary membership" in the "first world".

If over 1000 people have had access to the Epstein files, hard to believe none made a backup copy. There's plenty of places one could release them without being personally identifiable.

The entire chain of command is likely guilty, from Whisky Pete (and maybe the Demented Don) down to the guy who pulled the trigger. Illegal orders should not be followed.

The sad thing is, the Department hasn't actually done "Defense" since what, WW2? What attacks have there been on the US since then? "War" (the pre-WW2 nomenclature) is a small improvement, though "Oil", "Greed", or "Deadly Influence" would be better.

Getting half isn't taxes. $700M is in payments over 30 years. Half is if you want it all in cash today. Either way they're gonna take taxes out of it when you get it. But the good(?) news is, taxes on the rich in the US are the lowest they've ever been.

ID? What ID? Why do I need an app store if I don't use a phone? If I need an email addr, burners are easily available, and my VPN lets me be anywhere in the world I want.
November 28, 2025 at 6:23 AM
There's a continual battle between sites that try to restrict where viewers may be (BBC, Netflix, et al.), and viewers who want to watch it. VPNs often change their IP numbers (and places they rent servers from) to prevent identification. There's no way to reliably tell, for long.
November 28, 2025 at 1:58 AM
I don't see how app store is relevant, anybody can DL most apps. I post from desktop using a web browser that anyone can download. And default to always using a VPN, so I could be anywhere. You might be able to figure out location from the content I post, but not from my IP number.

It all depends on what "centrist" means, but authoritarianism is orthagonal (an independent property) to the "left-right" spectrum. The site below illustrates that, though I'd quibble with some of the assumptions they make.

Computers are very good at doing repetitive tasks where the process is completely understood. The less defined the process is, and the more poorly the programmers understand it, the worse computers are, no matter how "intense". That's why software updates seemingly come weekly.

I dunno, but how come people keep calling Deutschland "Germany", Kongeriket Norge "Norway" and Российская Федерация "the Russian Federation"?
November 26, 2025 at 6:22 AM
If we knew enough about cells/tissues to reliably model them with computers, we could just skip the rest of medical testing and go directly to widespread use on humans. After all, computers (or the people who program them) never make mistakes, right?

Will the macaques be replaced with PETA members?

Cellular providers log every call, but you'll have to use your imagination to fill in the conversation.
November 26, 2025 at 1:26 AM
On the other hand, Trump's cell service provider has call logs showing every call made & received and their duration. I wonder who else (besides assorted foreign intelligence services) can access that.

We all agree what it reads.
Saying that it applies to each individual independently is an interpretation. That is probably what the authors had in mind, but it's too late to ask them, so we must interpret it. They wrote "and all", a collective phrase, not "or any" (XOR), i.e. individually.

Pension not a big factor with only 5 years service, around $8K/year. Dunno, maybe healthcare for life.
