Liberal, progressive, whatever... But right now what you're for matters a whole lot less than what you're against.

I mean I just kind of expected this kind of shit would happen if Trump got re-elected, so I did most of my panicking a year ago

So what you're implying isnt necessary true... Prompt injection would only be an issue if they were using the tax data to train the base model (which I wouldn't put past OpenAI!) But if they're just giving the model access to the tax data and not using it for training, that wouldn't happen

It was hard, but Boston Dynamics seems like they've basically nailed it now. A wider base with wheels simplifies a lot of things, until they need to go up stairs or fit through a narrow passage, and then all of a sudden it's a huge disadvantage.

If you want to generalist robot that can function in human spaces and use tools for humans, making something that's physically similar to humans is a good way to do that

Not that this robot is practical, but the newest Boston Dynamics robots have some pretty clever designs

At the risk of being pedantic, it's more like being a citizen of an Empire-controlled planet, and paying taxes to the Empire. You didn't choose it, you're probably not actively involved, you might dislike it, you're probably oppressed yourself... but you still contribute to some small degree.

The USAID abandonment is horrible, but withdrawing aid isn't as bad as intentionally mass murdering people. The closer WWII correlary is the Benghal famine, which Winston Churchill deserves a lot of blame for.

The most jingoistic Trumpist American has nothing on the average tankie when it comes to being propagandized. You guys have been saying America would fall any day now for 50+ years now

What worries me is the US remaining strong while becoming far more brutal and imperial, that should worry you too

The US system of government has deep flaws and it's not capable of functioning with a hostile party, I'm the first to admit that. And Trump is hemorrhaging soft power for no good reason. But that really wasn't the case just a couple of years ago in the Biden admin, when the US was broadly popular

Military strength you're flat out wrong about. Counter-insurgency in conquered territory is notoriously difficult, but there's not a single military in the world that's on par with the US in terms of military power. China is the only one that comes close, they might surpass us but they haven't yet
