The patient no longer needs aggressive medical care, but they still need care nonetheless. A quick visit, a kind word, a cup of coffee meant more to me than I could ever say. It kept me present, grounded, and able to be there for my dad. That clinical medicine for you.

MY DAD was just dx with metastatic colon cancer when we started palliative care. All told it was 10 days from diagnosis to death.

I got most nervous and uncomfortable when no one checked in for hours. I WAS SO GRATEFUL when staff stopped by, just to say hi to me and check in how I was doing,

How awful and scary, for you , for her, for everyone. Wrapping you and her in warmth and care (in my head ;) I am so very sorry, a terrible loss.
