Some highlights from the New Year’s photos last night.

It’s so wild how Iceland does fireworks. Nothing official, just Icelanders buying the “big ones” themselves and just shooting them off all over the city for hours. Every direction you look is a show and bottles of champagne in the street. 🥳🍾🎆✨

A timelapse of (some of) the photos I took at Hallgrimskirkja in Reykjavik for New Year’s. 🥳🥂✨

Happy New Year!!

Back in the hotel watching (w/ 81% of Icelanders) the year-in-review-in-Iceland comedy show. No idea what they’re saying, but we think they’ve joked about …

- new parking rules at the airport
- people getting prescribed Ozempic
- food delivery drivers cutting in line
- quality of Temu products

New Years getting started here in Iceland. First up, headed down to the coast for a little bonfire action.

Handheld fireworks on M, camera skills at their limit here.

Hubs ran out and grabbed me a BMO from a local Reykjavík bakery, 280 Bakery, for breakfast.

BMO refers to bolle med ost, a popular Danish breakfast of a simple bread roll (bolle) with butter and cheese. So simple, yet so delicious.

Shout out to the poached pears me made. The best pear-involved dish I’ve ever tasted. 10/10, would recommend.

Red wine, loads of spice, and ice cream. It’s a trifecta.

This year’s “why did we cook this insanely complex thing at home when it would be cheaper to go out” was Beef Wellington. We got two good slices, the rest was iffy. But hey, the real delight was spending the day cooking with my husband. The one day a year we both cook. Merry Christmas!

I've really been enjoying Arc Raiders. I think this might be my first "extraction shooter" and so far, I'm enjoying how it's not 100 people trying to kill me immediately ... often times it's a couple "Don't Shoot" strangers helping each other out.

I was curious about “have you seen the price of RAM” and looked up my last RAM purchase. In June 2024 (~1.5 years ago) I paid $104.99 for 32GB of DDR5. Today, it’s $379.99. Yikes. And I bought two of these things for a total of 64GB.

6/2024: $209.98
12/2025: $759.98

WTF, that’s crazy.

Solid remake of a classic in the MGS series. The game definitely suffers from some frame pacing issues on PC (even on a 5090/7800X3D). The full control of the camera made some parts of the game too easy compared to its original fixed camera setup on PS2 (and the HD remasters). Worth a play for fans.

Japan photo. This was from Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine, which was very crowded, but I happened to turn around to a brief moment of zen and snapped this photo.

Looking at video game listings on OfferUp is a casual pastime of mine. This listing photo for an Xbox Series S … unhinged.

Just a few observations
- why a fork on the carpet
- why brown splatter on the Xbox
- why frozen entree packaging on the carpet
