tried to describe myself from A to Z but only got as far as A for apathetic and gave up. Couldn’t be arsed. A pessimist is never disappointed
Heard Nile Rodgers being interviewed years back by Mark Ellen and David Hepworth. What a life story. He claimed to have been serving the drinks at his mother’s 21st birthday party

Produced by Nick Rhodes of Duran Duran and you can definitely hear it. Nick Beggs said they fired Limahl because they were clearly on different planets. Both parties eked out a continued career in the UK but Never Ending Story is probably the only thing either did that endures in any way

7 was my favourite (I stopped at 16 because I was losing interest in mainstream pop). I thought it was just because I was having a particularly enjoyable time in 1986 but I’ve seen so many other people name it as the best or their favourite.

I tend to point out when the weather (particularly the natural light) is completely wrong for the time of year being depicted. Christmas episodes of Doctor Who always seem to take place on a glorious summer’s day

I find the Cale version hilarious as he’s determined to pronounce everything correctly, to hell with whether it rhymes

The Alexandra Burke version after winning X Factor even had a gospel choir on it (at Christmas). That won’t have helped

I’d never heard of IQ until quite recently. Turned out they’re rather good

Notwithstanding the shocking events that prompted it (so focusing on the statement itself), the worst thing about this is that it is in no way out of character. This wasn’t about being statesmanlike in paying tribute to a beloved citizen, it’s about celebrating the death of a known opponent

Two for one deal

The way he’s initially trying to sound sympathetic (even if he’s deliberately being sarcastic) probably makes it worse. What a classy guy and perfectly suited to a position of such responsibility.

Just proves that the higher a position of power a person seeks, the less they are suited to it

My dad played at the Marquee in about 1964. Long and possibly-not-worthwhile tale attached involving Keith Moon’s drum kit

Surely the world should give him the benefit of the doubt, at least until he’s had time to demonstrate what sort of President he would be. Might need a third term for that

Classy

Maybe if you asked Aspel. You might get one of those badges as well

I have a lot of questions about it, but I really don’t want to know the answers

I don’t suppose it’s intentional, I don’t actually follow this account but every time I see a post from it it’s one of the stories that aren’t very good. There are so many excellent stories from the classic era, I just never see them being highlighted here

Lalla Ward and possibly David Daker are the only good things in this. Tom is in full-on clown mode, the performances are terrible, the way it turns out Vraxoin is made is ludicrous (“of course!” says the Doctor like he should have realised) and they can’t even agree how to pronounce Hecate
