For those with no legal background "tort reform" is the legal euphemism for stripping people of their right to sue to receive money for damages due to harms caused by others or even stripping people of their right to sue entirely.
Suing may be the only way for people to stop corporate wrong doing.

The press was mostly unbiased then because the equal airtime rules and anti-trust laws in effect. The disinformation bubble and cult of personality created by today's Right wing propaganda networks now mean that many people don't agree what reality is let alone how to solve america's problems.

When Nixon was caught extending the Vietnam War unto Cambodia, responsible for the Watergate break-in, tried to cover it up with secret hush money payments, and tried to stop the investigation by ordering the Saturday Night Massacre firings Republicans were going to impeach him.

It's an interesting story, but the people who survived the 1957 Ruskin Heights Tornado and the 2000 Tonganoxie tornadoes probably disagree.
