Wasn’t it just basically ‘the allies’.

Can’t wait for them to discover antipasti.

"Antifa has been around in various iterations for almost 100 years in some instances, going back to the Weimar Republic in Germany."

It’s been a subsidiary for at least ten years.

My mum wasn’t thrilled by the wall painting. My dad just raised his left eyebrow and went back to his racing pages.

The basis of the designs were photos of Derry and Bogside by Don McCullin. He used photomontage and stark photocopy style monochrome. I was very in love with John Heartfield the anti fascist photomontage artist at the time. Gee Vaucher’s stuff with Crass also caught my imagination. And still does.

Because it’s just come out plus 45 years, I played it earlier, loud all the way through. And it made me remember something I’d forgotten. I was very smitten by the ferocity of them, and the imagery tripped something in my head. So I painted the inner sleeve across my bedroom wall in emulsion.
A photomontage by Mick Coles using bits of McCullin’s photos of The Bogside in Derry NI, but with a bald chap in the right. A crucified hand to the left, and a Jesuslike figure rising out of smoke.

I still play it now and again. It still throws me back, music is like that, it augments memory in the same way the sense of smell does with food. Enriches how we hold time inside ourselves.

It’s 45 years almost to the day since the first Killing joke album came out. I was 14, it changed the whole way I viewed EVERYTHING. I think because it was the first record I felt like I’d discovered.
The famous sleeve outer which Mike Coles put together using an image shot not long before by Don McCullin.

I think Jilly Cooper might be dead, I just felt a disturbance in the Horse.

Always a RT for fellow scratchbuilders. Scale grot mags get extra points.

Wanna see a really tiny damp cardboard box of grot mags? Course you do.
A box of jazz mags in front of a skip 1/24th scale. It’s all about the research. The skip is from 1991, (don’t ask), so the mags had to be 70s vintage to have been in a shed for long enough… anyway, it’s how my mind works. Linen tester for scale and cheap laughs. Grot mags in skip Grot mags in box. For US/RoW viewers, RAZZLE has a sort of comedy element about the title in the UK, oft quoted.

A very rusty Beetle Engine Bay A rusty Beetle front end. The underside. Based very heavily on a shit one I owned years ago. I saw the underneath of it a lot, also learnt to weld. The back seat.

It’s all down to layering, acrylic, oils, powdered pastels and fixer. Plus layers of non-soluble barrier. I use diluted acrylic floor varnish.

‘Research’… what got me was the number of forums full of ancient knee rubbers on them sharing this stuff. Also Muffs were bigger in the olden days.

As you’ve all been so nice, here’s some of the 1/24th ‘Spiral Scratch’ record shop and derelict laundrette that go with the van and skip. It’s fun, I highly recommend making and/or mending stuff as a distraction from *waves arms about*
A scale model of a record shop called Spiral Scratch and a laundrette A front on view of the aforementioned. Detail of the doorway with shutter and posters, plus records in the window. The record rack in that went in the window.
