Two weeks ago, UAW 4811 members came together to show the public what’s at stake as Trump attacks public research. Funding for much of that research has been temporarily restored, but it’s vital to keep pushing. Join the fight at killthecuts.org

Dark blue background with white text. Message says that giving student and worker names to the administration helps suppress free speech, erodes trust in the university, undermines rights, and puts people in danger. Dark blue background with white text. Message says students and workers have the most to lose from the administration’s disinvestment in higher education and attacks on political enemies. Dark blue background with white text and UAW 4811 logo at the bottom. We’re live at UCLA’s Rolfe Courtyard for the Science Fair for Canceled Research, where researchers are showing the impact of Trump’s $600M cuts that suspended 800+ projects. From Alzheimer’s to HIV, lifesaving science is on the line—follow along as we call to #FundScience.

Yesterday, ASEs had our 4th bargaining session. Here's what happened:
A red graphic with bold white and italic text that reads: “ACADEMIC STUDENT EMPLOYEE BARGAINING update #4.” Subheader: “MANAGEMENT BEGINS TO MAKE PROGRESS ON IMMIGRATION.” Below: “Yesterday, ASEs met with UC management for another round of bargaining. Management delivered a counter-proposal on immigration that makes progress—thanks to months of organizing, thousands of petition signatures, and meetings with deans on every campus. But UC has still not committed to the full protections ASEs need against Trump’s attacks.” A small white arrow points right. A red graphic with bold white text at the top: “IMMIGRATION RIGHTS.” The body text reads: “Management’s counter-proposal would: Require UC to notify workers when ICE or immigration enforcement is on campus; Prohibit UC from sharing immigration info without a judicial warrant; Commit UC to refuse collaboration with ICE. Still missing: Legal support for impacted workers; Expanded visa leave protections. ASEs proposed some of the strongest immigration protections of any union contract. Pressure is working—but we’ll need to fight harder to win the protections we deserve.” Footer text: “For more info, visit uaw4811.org/ase-bargaining.”

2. Transitional Funding – ASEs propose making pilot program permanent and expanding it.
3. First Tentative Agreement – ASEs secure rights to equipment and materials, defeating UC rollback attempt.
