Yes - we have a suggestion of numbers of staff at different grades in each department. All sounds great until there's a hiring freeze and then everyone is stuck until someone leaves. It's not collegiate and it doesn't encourage doing more with promotion in mind. People are stuck.

There were also a couple of AoB points:
A reminder about the upcoming visit to Kent from UCU Gen Secretary Jo Grady.
And a point about Kent still using X (as recently as 10 days ago). It was also pointed out that many academic webpages have links to an X account. We'd like them all removed.

Contracts for the merger are due to be signed by the end of this month.
We are waiting to hear more about the details.

Ongoing discussion around the proposed merger with Greenwich too.
Pensions are a big concern with a merger as Kent runs a different system from Greenwich.

It also seems to be the case that most of senior management are not social media users so it passes them by. Not all academics or PS staff are social media users either.
But the majority of our students are.
Student centred learning surely includes protecting them from illegal images being made?

It has been brought to the attention of the Comms team at least twice in the past week.

Agreed. It's not difficult to put out a final message saying that the account is closing down and moving to other platforms.
We would have liked to have done similar with our old UCU account but it fell into disuse and the password was lost.

At least CCCU hasn't posted on there since December. Kent posted as recently as 10 days ago.
It has been pointed out by academic staff that this is risking reputational damage but we're told it's being 'discussed'.
