The 3-hr session today was scintillating, as Open Science meets AI. The result was a plethora of ideas and initiatives which could enrich the research environment globally. The recording will be available on the #OAI14 website in 24-48 hrs. See oai.events/oai14/ for more details.

139 people signed in to the session from a variety of countries, which included Venezuela, Colombia, USA, Chile, UK, Latvia, Mexico, Italy, Argentina, Switzerland & Ecuador. The event was hybrid, with a face-to-face event in Geneva running simultaneously.

In both Africa and Europe, we have models for delivering cloud services over high speed networks. The use of PIDs in China shows how important consistency is to deliver Open Science solutions. Open Alex is making its presence felt, giving access to 462,000,000 works.

The many positive comments from participants in the session showed that Research Security was a matter of vital concern to Open Science supporters.

What does this mean in practice? The panel, in a lively & informed discussion, agreed that it was a question of balance: openness & the new geo-political realities. Was education the way forward, with mandatory training on Research Security and how to deliver it being part of the answer?
