one of the pieces of credit I will hand gunn is that in his superman adaptation, he showcases that there's no shortage of ways to kill him, but what luthor especially does is note that his style is lazy. he can shotcall every move supe will make like a football coach because he's never had to think!

right now they're doing blade vs. buffy and it's just the most whatever question in the world. go check page x on book y where they show they are capable of z. after a certain number of years "canon" is just the detritus of fandom. you might as well make it a poll on ao3 and call the result official

I feel like winning on death battle is just a test of who had the more hack writer. who was more interested in character power scaling than anything else. you can just not care at all about storytelling and skip to a homelander or deadpool. with age, "who wins" becomes a big old "who cares"
