Thank you so much to people who have sent me kind messages here. I am indeed ok. Just taking a little rest from socials. I'm sorry but due to Bluesky requiring me to verify my age I am currently prevented by Bluesky from replying to any private messages! 🤦‍♀️I'll see if I can fix that next week.

I did write a letter to the Irish Times before I now sign off to take a time out.

Taking a short bluesky break as feeling sick after reading this morning's Irish Times. Back next week.

He's incredibly cowardly. This is a common feature of abusers, but his wimpishness is off the scale. I hope he does face justice soon, for the safety of the many people he is targeting. Pathetic as he is, abusive men as insecure as him are prone to serious violence, especially when their game is up

At last police meeting re NWL I learned reports of harassment of sex workers by him have decreased in recent months. Cops think he is scared they'll be able to prove something was him despite all his VPNs etc. Shame the hours he doesn't spend harassing sex workers are only spent harassing others.

That book did absolutely nothing for me! But glad it worked for you. Different strokes for different folks. Worth trying many things.

I'm not v worried about security of parcels as such material items are generally replaceable. But looking around I'm amazed how high cost and low feature options seem to be. Nothing clever like the discontinued eufy Smart Box to justify high cost. Would have thought parcel boxes a common need today.

Personal security question as sadly running Ugly Mugs means I'm constantly being threatened by violent men. Does anyone know of a good parcel box? I need a way to receive packages too big to fit through a letterbox, without my having to open the door.

Presuming you are an ex "real" cigarette smoker now vaping, well done for managing to make that switch that should benefit your health, and sorry the Gov is targeting you for more tax.

Cool. I'm no Spain expert sadly. But will happily introduce you to UK and Ireland sex work study mailing lists etc if you ever want to join. Bon Chance!

Good luck with your current challenge and also let me know if I could maybe help. I'm linked up with lots of academics if you are thinking academic study. Email or DM me of course to talk private.

French is really not common for our members, or, if it is, most of them must understand English also. We are able to collect anon stats as to language settings on phones/browsers so we have very helpful statistical info in this area as well as just my daily experience.

Super, it won't be for a few weeks as due to the recent software upgrade we did we are rechecking all text and finalising it. Spanish is by far the most common language for us after English. I get dozens of email support requests every day from ladies who only speak Spanish and have no English.

This image is so true. And huge thanks to all the people, many anonymous and thus uncredited, who give their time and energy selflessly to the thankless and difficult task of trying to talk to these people. I see your hard work and respect you for it greatly 🙌

Once upon a time we used to support 16 languages and fully across our site, not just for content deemed essential. But I carefully monitored language use and was able to reduce it to just the 7 I feel really are needed. Also I got too old to be able to translate everything into 16 languages 🤦‍♀️
uglymugsie.bsky.social
The languages we support in this way are just our 7 most common: English, Czech, Hungarian, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Romanian and Spanish.
uglymugsie.bsky.social
We get by great on a daily basis using tools like Google Translate, but I try to make sure the key important text in our app is properly translated, as that seems important. Proper translation of everything would be impossible. But I keep a short essentials file that I try to make sure is correct.
uglymugsie.bsky.social
Do you speak Spanish? If yes & if you had time I'd welcome someone willing to review the translation of a file for Ugly Mugs in a few weeks. It's not so big, maybe 2,500 words. Spanish is our most common language after English and very many UM members only speak Spanish.

Also does Royal Mail not have a responsibility to deliver to UK addresses even if they are remote, or has privatisation killed that?

Well done Ireland. This is super indeed.

Damn. This is amazing. £325 per week, paid monthly, for 3 years - and the result was a profit for the Irish economy:

Post from Threads user rodneyowl: "Ireland has declared the Basic Income for Artists scheme permanent. This will be officially announced in tomorrow’s budget. Details to follow. Congratulations to all who fought for it and the present and future artists of all sorts in Ireland. That includes me 👌We’re just comin to the end of a 3 year pilot scheme. It’s been a roaring success. For every €1 paid out to the 2000 participants, the government got €1.46 back. Can’t argue with that. Other countries are already taking note."

For most of my adult life I've worked on average 18 hours a day 7 days a week. Because of my commitment to voluntary work, plus my need to do paid work to pay the bills. I'm hoping to reduce my hours a little starting in a few months (fingers crossed my plan works). Excited is an understatement 💃

As someone interested in policing and privacy, I have Google alerts set up to notify me of new content that might be of interest. This wasn't a result I was expecting this morning. It is for sale at local upcoming auction. Don't all rush at once with your bids!

These coins are so beautiful. There is a shop Etsy that makes jewellery out of them. And no, it's not my shop, I just gaze with wonder 😍
