The main house in Kotvogur burnt down in 1934, killing three people. Originally used for storage, this house survived the fire and was later converted to a dwelling. It was abandoned in 1984.

For context, the big stick from yesterday is next to the remnants of Kotvogur. Kotvogur was quite large during the 19th century. There were 16 houses with 38 doors on hinges, which I assume was super impressive in 19th century Iceland.

This area used to have several old summer cabins. After being completely wrecked, most of them have now been torn down, and the resulting rubbish cleaned up. However, there are still small reminders of what used to be.
