What’s this garbage? He spends all article saying it’s not her fault, it’s the system’s fault, and then doesn’t even have the bravery to say outright that the system is bad. Just that maybe he thinks it could possibly be.

But this is the part that bothers me. Congress should go after him and hold him reconcile for his behavior. Federal courts have often tried. But ultimately the conservative project is itself so riddled with corruption that they would never. Can never.

From the Times morning newsletter. I hate this kind of framing. The key reason for birthright citizenship isn’t precedent. It’s the 13th amendment. The Times knows this. They could’ve noted that was the constitutional argument at the center of the case. Instead, we’re told it’s just about precedent.

They won’t tell his family. They won’t talk to the press. This is beyond unacceptable. The machine that this administration has built to carry this out is inhuman and unacceptable in a free society and must be torn apart.

This bit reminds me of arguments about funding against crime in Baja California in the 90’s. People wanted youth programs and infrastructure. That was “too expensive.” The government offered militarized police with shotguns patrolling streets. Crime got worse, some police joined the cartels.
