A summary of the rain warnings in force for Storm Amy. 

A yellow rain warning, valid Friday 12:00-23:59 for parts of northern and western Scotland. This area is likely to see 40-60 mm of rain widely, with over 70 mm possible over some Highland mountains. 

A yellow rain warning, valid Friday 15:00-23:59 for parts of northwest England and parts of southwest Scotland. This area is likely to see 10-20 mm of rain widely, with 40-70 mm possible over hills. A summary of the wind warnings in force for Storm Amy. 

An amber wind warning, valid Friday 17:00-Saturday 09:00 for parts of northern and western Scotland. This area is likely to see gust of 60-70 mph widely, with gusts over 95 mph possible in the most exposed areas. 

A yellow wind warning, valid Friday 14:00-Saturday 12:00 for Northern Ireland. Gusts of 50-60 mph are expected widely, with 60-70 mph gusts in exposed areas. 

A yellow wind warning, valid Friday 15:00-Saturday 23:59 for Scotland, parts of northwest England and Wales. Gusts of 50-60 mph are expected widely, with 60-70 mph gusts in exposed areas.

1/ The Wild Bird Indicators, using BTO data, have been updated today by Defra! ⬇️

Sadly, the ‘all bird species’ index, comprising the population trends of 130 species, has been in a slow continuous decline in the UK since the 1970s, down by 18% and by 4% in the last five years. 📉 #Ornithology

Our Management Group met today, part of a quarterly meeting cycle. The discussion covered many aspects of #environmental #monitoring. These are an invaluable - almost unique - opportunity for UK public bodies involved in monitoring to share information & ideas, and to explore working together.
