Violet Affleck made headlines this week with a powerful speech at the UN. In it, she discussed the importance of masking in limiting Covid transmission

Her speech also gave us insights into how the right-wing/Murdoch media engages with science in the age of Covid

For what it's worth, social media algorithms behave the exact same way. The key difference is that these media outlets have editors.

The Murdoch media machine allows their users to augment their reality to whatever they want to believe. Their discussion around masks is just one example.

This is not how media is supposed to work. And to behave this way during a pandemic is reprehensible.
