To be fair, the flag represented is the Confederate Battle Flag. It is not the “flag of a country”. There were three Confederate National Flags.

I think it’s more about not getting injured playing meaningless baseball in the context of the overall goal of every MLB player. The All Star game is another example of meaningless baseball with a potential for injury.

Unless/until they use analytics alone to choose these awards AND All-Stars, they are nothing more than a popularity contest and therefore meaningless.
