The way to build a SB team has been 1) franchise QB 2) Incredible defense. Recently 3) Rookie QB contract build.

Seahawks fall in '2', but the offense has more juice the a '15 Denver or '02 Bucs. Ironically the '24 Eagles might be the best recent comp? '1' will always be most predictive though.

I think an MVP (multiple in Lamar's case) emphatically closes the door on that conversation. Until Darnold has been the best player in the league he is a tier or two below. Still, the tenor of his career is forever changed, and no one can say he is a passenger of team success after that game.

Also wild that he is the first 2018 QB to start a Super Bowl

Still, if he catches it, they force the Broncos to accept the penalty and replay the down. With Allen you have to like the extra chance- even 10 yards back. Could get a defensive penalty... bleck.

To what extent do you think this alters the completion percentage conversation? Obviously it is lower efficiency and led to some issues with consistently moving the ball, but all of the rhetoric about completing less than 60% seems to ignore where he is attempting to complete those passes.

And there were a few dropped passes in there. Once Caleb figures out how to do this for 4 Quarters....

If he still has designs on a head coach opportunity, I wonder if he might place himself in a place where he could be an interim guy? Jets pairing with Glenn (assuming he survives) has a DC opening. Will he get legit HC interviews at this stage otherwise?

Teams need to capitalize on the 3-4 plays Darnold sgort circuits on, and even then they are tough to overcome. Heck of a year!

I legit yelped. Expected to see an ambulance and instead he runs it in next play 😅

Wilder still is the fact that the year they made the national title was probably not one of their best teams of the century.

Vrabel, Coen, Ryans, Harbaugh, Payton, Johnson, McVay, McDonald, and Shanahan all have legitimate arguments. Insanely stacked group.

It's difficult to extricate any criticism from toxic masculinity- racial component as well. Otherwise I think some just dislike draftniks "annointing" QBs as generational. Same thing happened to Lawrence (to a lesser degree) and Luck might have struggled with it if he wasn't that guy right away.

I know he is just legitimately much worse now than he used to be, but I have a hard time recalling him being good at this while listening to him now.

My first thought is that the barely coded language reads similarly to that of the birthday card that the WSJ reported. Quite clumsy, but I haven't seen much to suggest that subtlety was a strong suit of these creeps.

Griz alumni 🙋‍♂️

The rare semifinal where fans of the team might care more about the outcome of this game than the championship if their team wins.
