350,000 people pay $5.2 billions in taxes ? Only curiosity. It’s a lot of money !

Haitian’s constitution doesn’t allow double nationality. In DR, you don’t have Jus Solis rights. If you are illegal in transit you won’t be legal staying a lot of time. That’s why article 168 and 169 modified constitution.

Why not? According to article #12, from Haitian constitution, if U r direct descending from Haitian mother or father, U have Haitian citizenship, no matter where you were born. Did they change that? It’s more difficult to quit the nationality, something you need to do before applying for another.

Those 150,000 stateless persons do have a nationality. They are Haitians according to Haitian constitution, article 12 from 1987.

What illegal means to you? Judging by your constitution or Dominican constitution?
The system is not so cruel allowing almost 4 millions aliens, giving education to more than 300,000, financing more than 70 births per day. Giving jobs to more than 2 millions.

Siguen siendo nacionales haitianos.
January 31, 2026 at 2:51 PM
January 29, 2026 at 5:41 PM

Nice book !
In 1791 a slave revolt began with a religious ceremony looking for reinvindications and revenge, burning plantations and killing owners. Controlled by Blanchelande and his forces when Boukman was captured and executed on November 1791.
Jean François became the new leader. Toussaint?

You are absolutely right about timeline but wrong about impact and consequences in Haiti. Maybe it all began with Ogé and his ideas inspired in France. In 1791 there was not any freedom from Haitians. The whole riot was controlled in less than 2 years. In 1794, Sonthonax abolished slavery.

French Revolution inspired American Revolution and Haitian Revolution.

Who were the slaves?
There wasn’t any slave since slavery was abolished by a Frenchman named Sonthonax in 1794. Remember that Louverture was the general governor from 1795 until 1801 and he was against slavery.
Napoleon really wanted to but his army was defeated in Vertières.

The peace of Amiens was officially broken on May 18, 1803. Napoleon knew British would block the seas with their powerful navy. He decided to sell the whole Louisiana, not only New Orleans, for less than offered by Americans. He also knew British would block his troops in Haiti.
December 29, 2025 at 11:36 AM
Louisiana was an Spanish property until 1800. Napoleon sold it on April 30, 1803. Haiti was freed on January 1st 1804.
The reasons, according to Wikipedia, was the need of money to continue European wars, fear of England navy and no possibility to manage that huge territory. Haiti was not a reason.
