UndergroundAI is artist in their 60s who is curious about the intersection of tech + art, and wanted to see what all the fuss was about. I have a traditional studio space, but this experiment is about creating traditional-looking art/portraits using AI.
More abstract fun.

There have been a number of articles recently in the usual places the highlight art (TheGuardian, Artnews, major art blogs) that suggest after years of being dominant, figurative is now giving way to abstraction again.

Is abstraction roaring back as these suggest? Is this a good thing?

Thoughts?

And one more of my own digital pieces, abstract, created in Krita on a Wacom tablet. About 5 hours in total to complete, with saturation/hue change done in Pixelmator Pro when done. I have a library of 500+ custom brushes I use in Krita to create specific marks, styles of paint and brushing, etc.

One of my own abstract digital works, created using Krita and a Wacom tablet, a bit of colour correction done in Pixelmator Pro.

More experiments with so-called AI. While I'm merely an old traditional artist being curious with this new technology, I do acknowledge the ethical issues that swirl around the topic, and the often intense emotions that get brought to the surface when talking about art generated like this.

I'm often asked about artists I love. There are so many. Too many to list I think but let's start by showing off these two.

The late American-born painter Cy Twombly who created such dynamic brilliant works, and the Japanese painter/illustrator Ikenaga Yasunari whose work is simply breathtaking.

I'll also use this account to post art-related news that I find interesting, and also images of art from some of my favourite artists. You may not like all of the art I post, but each one makes me curious and intrigued when I look at them. I'll start by posting one from the late Frank Auerbach.

Behind undergroundAI.art is artist in their 60s who is curious about the intersection of tech+art, and wanted to see what all the fuss was about with this AI stuff. I do have a real studio, but this experiment is about creating art using Stable Diffusion, then tools like Krita and Rebelle to finish.
