Much worse today too as I thought West Ham played well but Brentford were completely flat first half, but we made no effort to grab a second and just let the inevitable happen

If he's been carrying a hip injury as Howe said post-match, we absolutely can't allow him to join the England camp.

This is becoming a generational stinker from Gordon. Can't quite believe what I'm seeing after being at St James' for the Benfica game a fortnight ago

The half time subs were all a bit questionable:
Taking krafth off so early with no rb in squad
Woltemade off when West Ham were going to sit deep
Gordon off when he needs to play himself into form in league.

The ones that followed those were just farcical.

Watched the whole second half through my fingers. Felt like a good first 10 and last 15/20mins and very sloppy at times in between.

Loved his shot from the angle yesterday though - Tonali's too. Not many goals scored from there but they both got one last season.

Murphy seems to be cutting in more and shooting with his left from distance this season. Mostly very decent efforts, but sure there were a couple where the pass was on

Fair point. I think before the end of the season Miley is first choice holding midfielder with Tonali freed to drive forward more in place of Joelinton.

Didn't think Barnes was as bad as that once he was on the left. Manage to beat his man as many times as Gordon who really didn't capitalise after getting his fullback booked on his first attack.

Yeah, and maybe being a bit harsh because is one eye-catching turnover came in a spell when about 5 different players gave it to Fulham in dangerous areas.
October 25, 2025 at 4:09 PM
He took on that extra responsibility against Brighton too when we went 2-1 behind. Perhaps can be let of the leash a little earlier. He was exceptional defensively and on the ball.

Massive win in the kind of game that's horrible to watch now. Expected to win but decent opposition who can cause a lot of problems.

Did you not think Tonali could have replaced Miley at half time? Thought he was struggling today.

Government acting as if a decision has been made purely because it's an Israeli club, rather than a safety decision logically following the same club's fans causing riots in Amsterdam that had to be condemned by the UN Secretary General.

Hope to see Salia soon then, with Park and Neave.
Yeah, I know Mills came in at a similar time and with similar optimism to Alabi who has kicked on nicely with the U18s this season and got his first U21s minutes last week. Mills seemed a bit of a star in the early rounds of Youth Cup last season.

Always appreciate your articles as I feel there is lack of reporting on the U21s. Do you know if Salia and Michael Mills are currently out with injury? Seem like two players who would add a lot to the u18 and u21 sides.

Weirdly cut his lovely through ball to set up the pen, just as he's about to kick it
October 11, 2025 at 11:02 AM
Park and Neave the clear standout players and both look like they could develop into first team players with us.

Pivas, Heffernan and McArthur all look like they will play at a decent standard.

Beyond that, I think more recruitment is needed to build a competitive U21 team.
October 8, 2025 at 8:23 PM
Five minutes for Alabi, who I've been waiting to see. The young midfielder has trained with the first team and been productive for U18s this season, as well as in captaining England U17s last international break.
October 8, 2025 at 7:43 PM
Pivas given the last 10 minutes off, Mccarthur shuffling into CB. Pivas looked pretty solid which you'd expect given his senior experience before signing.
October 8, 2025 at 7:35 PM
Not a lot of action in the second half. Good to see Neave not willing to be bullied by the older opposition, giving a well-earned shove to a defender who'd tried to rip his shirt of his back

Boston started to apply a bit more pressure but NUFC unlucky not to get a pen for handball after Wooster's shot was saved by the defender
