The Sherburne County Jail at 13880 Business Center Drive in Elk River is a USMS IGA jail & has 99 ICE detainees, 66 are mandatory. A 2020 report said Sherburne received “roughly $11 million per year from ICE.” The “reimbursements for housing federal detainees brought in $18 million” in 2024.

ICE pays for detention facility beds on a “per diem” or daily arrangement, about $165 a day. The biggest major private prison vendors are CoreCivic and GEO Group. Despite huge rises in their stock prices (juiced by 'buybacks'), they are drifting lower.

Israel currently occupies and controls more than half of the Gaza Strip & have moved nearly 1,000 feet further in the Shuja’iyya & Sha’af neighborhoods in Gaza City. This advance forced residents to flee their damaged homes & become displaced again, with many people forced to evacuate last Friday.
As a part of the Gaza ceasefire, Israeli forces left yellow-painted square concrete boulders to mark where Palestinians cannot go past without being fired upon. Last week, Israeli forces expanded this so-called “yellow line” further into what’s left of neighborhoods in the bombed-out Gaza Strip.
