You could argue that GLaDOS is lying, however she has never directly lied like this.

It's always through word trickery like "You will be baked, then there will be cake" or something similar

actual explanation is that when Dive Kicking you can bounce off a wall once to redirect 80% of your momentum.

I actually had this done a while ago but didn't know if I should add it but after playing Pseudoregalia I decided to add it (it works totally different but worth mentioning)
