I am Canadian. I laughed out loud. I saw him make the same comment in his first meeting with Trump while visiting w/ my parents and they also laughed out loud. Every Canadian knows what he meant. It was not a compliment.

It helps extend your battery life too. I have that turned on on my iPad and Mac. It will charge to 100% once a month to maintain proper battery calibration but otherwise it never charges above 80%

Mine too. I don’t know about PCs but Macs have very good charging management. They only draw power when needed and if you don’t have the 80% limit set (you should) charging slows as it reaches 100% (to stay cool). As long as your laptop is on a hard surface I wouldn't worry.

Also I think the fact that it’s “not Rush” (and BTW fuck that, Rush is whatever Alex, Geg, and Neil’s family says it is) is actually liberating! Like I love the idea of adding a keyboardist! It’s a new iteration. They don’t have to be tied to the trio thing anymore. And they’re both 72 afterall 😁

Geddy also wasn’t an original. There’s talk of her “sitting in” or “fitting in” and I don’t think it’s either. Yes she fits by nature of being a nerdy insanely technical virtuosic BEAST… that’s just table stakes. More than that I she her bringing her own voice and contribution and that’s excited AF.

💯 Someone said she’s going to face “so much misogyny“ and I get why people would assume so but Rush fans tend to be pretty good eggs and after reading 1000s of comments I haven’t seen it. I’m seeing 99% excitement, 1% “Neil is sacred” and “ok but it’s not Rush” and 0 attacks for being a woman. None.

I imagine the main reason Rush’s new drummer clicked so well w/ the band is how insanely locked in the pocket she is (tight) w/ beautiful dynamics (musicality). And she’s also got chops (ghost notes, polyrhythms, crazy fills). Check out the solo about halfway in. SOO happy for Anika, Alex, and Geddy

I’m really hoping she does NOT simply play Neil Peart’s parts. I don’t think she will. I’m sure she’ll hit the signature bits in big hits like Tom Sawyer but beyond that it’ll be amazing to see what her unique musical voice brings to those 38 songs.

What‘s so thrilling about the Rush / Anika Nilles news is how organically it happened. Rush wasn’t auditioning drummers. They weren’t even sure they wanted to do this. They flew her to YYZ as a “try and see” thing. So to then say “let’s tour” she must’ve blown their minds. It must have been magic.

They’ve scheduled the rollout for their own convenience. So they can combine flu and Covid appointments. It’s absolutely criminal. A vulnerable family member is scheduled for surgery Oct 30th and I’m doubtful we can get her vaccinated in time.

I still don't understand how they presumably got an extra MONTH of lead time this year but the rollout timing is the same or maybe later. Admittedly I don't know how it all works… I'm just looking at the timing in previous years. But yah. Erg.
