The worst thing about this is how all of the regulators, who could have intervened, sat steadfastly on their hands. We’ve only managed to get things moving by getting the press and politicians involved. Those without the networks and skills to get political and media attention stand no chance.

With pressure from @tomcopley.bsky.social, EEH commissioned a Design Supervision Level 3 check, but that was before summer, and the assessor is still to report. If everything was in order, this should have been complete in weeks. In addition, we’ve noticed worrying staircase cracks in the masonry.

Another Sunday afternoon in PPE, salvaging possessions from my flat. More than two years later, there’s still water coming in, and we still don’t know how any of this meets building regulations or how the structure has been affected by being wet for so long.

I'm not sure we're quite there in the UK, but I think we do need to start talking about car spreading. The bin lorry can barely get down our street due to all the corpulent SUVs that people suddenly seem to 'need'.

I'm starting to see a pattern with these initiatives. ULEZ and other interventions in London resulting in this. The 20 mph default speed limit in Wales resulting in over a third fewer road deaths in a year. It's almost like managing the externalised costs of vehicles on society is a good idea.
