What is Networking Networking is essentially the act of creating professional relationships with other people. Tips for Networking Approach networking with a community building mindset as opposed to an opportunistic mindset Go to events (such as conferences, mixers, presentations, etc.) hosted by organizations in or related to your field Make sure to ask people questions about themselves and their work with genuine interest Have something prepared ahead of time to say about yourself and your work - an elevator pitch Utilize online networking platforms to connect with people professionally What are the Benefits? Networking builds a support system for you in the professional world Can lead to employment opportunities Can build the foundations for lifelong friendships Resources You can utilize campus resources such as the career center Indeed, Harvard Business Review, and Linkedin all have plenty of resources on networking
