So despite the last post box topper going missing I still put out another one this weekend. This is our tribute to VE Day (8th May). It's been 80 years since Victory in Europe and I'm remembering my Grandad, his uncles & cousins and other family members who were involved in WWII. #crochet

Last week I put together a post box tribute for our local beat officers to celebrate their first anniversary on our high street. Sadly the topper was stolen 2 days later. The police have identified the thieves so now we just wait for an outcome.

From today there will be Pokémon popping up around Gillingham, hosted by local businesses. It's our 2nd year doing a Pokémon Trail for people to track down during spring break. This years trail will run through to 31st May which includes half term break. Giving you more time to “Catch Them All!”

I now have 7 weekly crochet groups plus 2 after school groups and a 6 month wait list.
I started teaching crochet in 2014 and since taking over an existing yarn shop in 2021 the teaching side has expanded incredibly.

I find it hard to believe that it's been 9 years since I worked out my own pattern for this crochet clanger. At the time there wasn't one so I worked it out for myself ahead of creating one that was almost 4ft tall. I still have all my notes, and the original one sits on a shelf in the shop.

This week we found out that we were runner up in the Yarn Industry Awards 2024 in the category Independent Retailer South East England.
We are immensely proud of the yarn shop community we have been building. It's our goal to be winner next year.

Yesterday I had the job of repairing a seam on a Joe Browns coat for one of my crochet students. I enjoy doing visible mending as it can tell a story, this time round it was a subtle visible mend.

In Nov, I took up the challenge of knitting everyday for a min of 30 mins to raise funds for Bone Cancer Research Trust. This was a challenge as I am a crocheter, not a knitter. I did approx 45 mins a day & learned a lot. Today my certificate & medal arrived. I'm going to frame them for the shop.

Sprig the dragon pattern by Kaden Brown (who works in the shop) uses Ricorumi DK. I used the exact same pattern to create Darnwin using King Cole Toastie yarn. Both Sprig & Darnwin are now flying from the ceiling in the shop. The pattern for Sprig can be found here ribblr.com/pattern/spri...

6 yrs ago I embarked on a crochet sock journey. I tried many designs. The dc (US sc) ones were too tight. The patterns using tr (US dc) were uncomfortable to walk on. So I designed my own, Herringbone htr (hdc) is a stretchy stitch that gives flexibility & dc on the sole gives comfort.
