Sure. Regardless of the truth, Japanese culture has a reputation for being insular and (at least historically) xenophobic. The country is ethnically homogeneous, and this is what the UK/US far right admires.

Obviously Japan has a lot going for it. The people I'm referring to don't want to build a Shinkansen, they want to "remigrate" all the non-white people out of the UK.

It's also an odd comparison given how difficult integration is for immigrants to Japan, and the requirement to renounce other citizenships when naturalising. But perhaps the choice was intentional. Some right wingers view Japan as an ethnostate to be emulated.

We centre drivers' feelings far too much, but I think if we want to tackle this we also need to look at the systems that cause people to think speeding is ok. Vehicle size, prioritisation of road users, enforcement, education etc. It's not enough to just expect everyone to drive to the speed limit.

BBC says this is "just following the law". Maybe the Labour party should figure out who's running this country and nicely ask them to change the law? www.bbc.com/news/article...
No, if both sides hate you for completely different reasons that doesn't mean you're doing something right. The left opposes the BBC's institutional bigotry and inability to meaningfully challenge the government of the day (and a future Reform government, apparently).

The risk is like 1 in 10,000, which is fully disclosed in the vaccine information. And I really don't think we can indulge anti-vaccine arguments such as yours, when our kids didn't give informed consent to be repeatedly infected with this disease. They didn't consent to long COVID.

Who should we be contacting about this? Is there an appeals process for a TTRO? This is an unreasonable amount of time to close the path, and the diversion route is unsafe and inadequate.

There are so many ways to improve this scheme, which is really beneficial to commuters and families but also a giant handout to Halfords at the expense of local bike shops.
Instead they've gone culture war, apparently their only move.
