So far so good. Their website (they use My Watts which I think is a generic thing) is showing consumption since midnight. I’ll download the CSV of usage each day for the first month to compare to bill.

Understood - but for me recently Octopus’ customer service has certainly deteriorated from what it once was. Obviously others will have a different experience.

So Octopus charge us, one of the windiest parts of the country with a gazillion wind turbines, SEVENTY FIVE percent more than London and actually we have the highest standing charge of all regions. I asked them and they said it’s Ofgem, Ofgem say it’s nothing to do with them.

But what I REALLY don’t get is Octopus Agile and Go have a standing charge of 70p a day in the north east of Englabd (40p in London!). Tomato is 43p. That’s £100 a year saving just on standing charge.

The only obvious catch is that the company is nowhere near as big as others so more chance of hiccups. But for me, their peak rate is a fraction of a pence cheaper than Intelligent’s Go peak rate. The other downside is that you’ll lose the bonus hours that you might get with IO.

Tomato Energy Lifestyle looks interesting. In the north east it’s 5p from midnight to 6am, 14p 10am to noon and from 10pm to midnight and 24.3p all other times. 45p standing charge

But nobody drives that distance at 18mph. It usually comprises of loads of stop start traffic and I’m fairly sure it takes a lot more power to get a car moving from standstill than it does to keep it moving.
