In case you're wondering why riling up your opposition is good for the regime: they need it to justify the militarization of their Gestapo (you could argue that ICE is acting more like the SA, but they seem to be more like an amalgam of both [and no Röhm in sight]).

FWIW, as an example here's the one I regularly go to at least twice a year. It's in Germany, on the island Spiekeroog, and it's great. You can bring pretty much any board game to the table, as there's a wide variety of gamers (even ran a game of CoC once, Draw Steel in March ...).

Finding a group can be hard, and it's a table hog ... I personally get my Ecplise (and TI) fix by going to boardgame retreats. Not sure if those exist in your area, but might be worth a look. Just make sure that they're into those kinds of games.

Eclipse is great, and the 2nd edition makes set-up much easier. Just wish they'd update the 7 to 9 player rules from the first edition, because that was a beautiful mess.

I validated the install, disabled all mods, switched the intro movie off ... pretty much everything shy of a re-install. But above solution helped, huzzah!

Could be wrong, of course. I'm part of Gen X, so it's not like my opinion matters.

The TTRPG anachronism should bother me, but it doesn't. I'm old enough to remember a time when any half way decent representation of RPGs on TV would be out of the question.

I'd call the final season a success. True, the show lost a lot of steam in the middle seasons. S1 still reigns supreme. But they nailed the landing, in a medium where the ending is so often disappointing. Anybody who ever liked the show, give it a shot.

Coupled with a misunderstanding what stamina is supposed to represent, I guess.

Because it's supposed to increase tension. Waiting 20 minutes for your turn (while the wizard roasts half a dozen foes semi-automatically) only to do nothing but move your feet builds tension, because can you imagine how happy you will be when, three turns and 60 minutes later, you finally hit!

Don't get me wrong, DS isn't perfect. Nothing is. But this is also true for the system running on paradigms – which is what some people want, which of course is totally fine, but in that case don't pretend you're looking for anything else, okay?

Wish I could remember a historic example of appeasement not working, but I can't, because I got hit in the head with a frying pan.

True AI would mean that the stapler cooperates with the computer to produce the finished whatever without any faulty and obsolete human being involved at all. You go to the toilet, and when you're back, your thesis is already being delivered via drone to the landfill.

If Kushner needs to be in prison, so does his father-in-law.

Or, in one word: agreed.

Hogwash! The guy who brought peace to the Middle East is right where he belongs!

/s [I hate that it's needed nowadays to make that clear ...]
