A straight north wind in a big snow storm would dump a lot of Lake Superior snow here but that is a rare event. The main areas that get lake effect hasn't changed over time, they are still the ones getting the most snow.

My picture window faces directly east, so when the sun is shifting it is noticeable. We get the least snow in the UP in my area, less even then many in the lower peninsula get because we are upwind of the lake. Occasionally we get some lake effect from Lake Superior down here though.
