What you need, when moving your telescope outside is... one of these. All it needs is a 3.5l engine.

Today's #Scalextric tournament saw a slightly more compact nearly all 4-lane track. Just 6 drivers so straight to finals. We raced Minis, Rasio C-20s and Porsche Boxsters.

First terrestrial test of the new 'scope. To sight up the trees over the back it likes to run this way up. Needed the diagonal and all 3 extension tubes to focus on something that close.

And thar she blows! No-one said anything about leaving the azimuth adjusting bolts in place, but that seems like a first class idea since I nearly had an expensive accident before balancing.

It lives! I manually connected my phone to the mount's wi-fi and then the app connected and can control the mount. It's a bit keen to get itself aligned. There's no 'scope up top. Have you not got eyes? Can you not see? Ah, well, better get the 'scope out and get balanced.

Moved it into the conservatory where it can wait a bit as I am ker-nackered. Definitely a 2-person job to move it, before even the scope and weights are added. Next job is to match the static angle to my latitude so it tracks correctly.

The tripod is back to minimum size so it will fit through the door. The tower rises with all the motorised twisty-turny. Yes, that's the technical term.

I have seen that done, the bubble level is on the next part. Excellent.
October 24, 2025 at 1:18 PM
It's now at full height. Seems I need to buy a bubble level to make sure it's fully upright on whatever uneven ground it's occupying. Thought they might have built one into the top platform. I'm sure I've seen that done.

The first box revealed. Looks more like a full-sized wind farm platform.

Just 3 big boxes at the moment. I'm exhausted just moving them into the house, one by one. There's a 4th box with this monster...

Pretty sure the Spectrum Patrol Car has a special motor inside, as it sounds like a jet engine spinning up. No external mods to the motor. I like it!

Very interesting sky colour out there. The Sun is not behind that.

Meant to add this. Don't know how to copy and paste text on mobile phones, so we are two.

The big ole boy telescope mount battery has arrived. It's on charge, possibly for 6 hours as it appears to be mostly empty. It has a red light for night use, white light for scaring away the bears.

The other 2 #Scalextric arrivals today are Fast &Furious Mazda RX7 and Toyota Supra Mk 4. Not sure the black Dodge Charger will fit on the track with other cars: too wide to overtake? Maybe that's the point.

Following on from yesterday's Thunderbirds birthday, one of today's new #Scalextric arrivals is this. I had the metal SPV and MSV way back when. Scalextric SPV coming soon.

Thunderbirds is 60 years old today. Happy birthday!! I had the 5 vehicle toys in plastic, a cardboard hat and a plastic sash, courtesy the FAB lollies. I still watch the Blu-rays, including the Zero-X movie.
This is my latest addition:

Having espied a #Scalextric roundabout on a Jadlam layout, I was curious as to which track pieces were used. Mine doesn't look as neat, but it works. Course you need one separate lane in and one out; else electrical issues ensue.

Took advantage of a clear sky and a warm evening to get a stack of pictures of Andromeda with the borrowed DwarfLab 2. It's better than my previous attempt. A lot less gear to drag into the park too. Possibly another distant galaxy at top centre?

Just unpacked my Japanese Deluxe Edition of #BABYMETAL Metal Forth and all the content fills the table. 5 different covers, lyrics, poster, 3 mini covers, code to apply for January's Special Arena Show in Japan. Oh, and a CD! Awesome pack for £25, plus postage. Thank you, SU-METAL.

Realising that my drift #Scalextric cars don't need the old rectifier once converted to digital, since the new board also had a rectifier, and each rectifier costs a Volt, I am performing some rectifier-ectomies. One needed me to reverse the polarity of the electron flow, as the car went backwards.

I reckon I missed it. 🤔 This view from the UK after the moon cleared the curtain of cloud (mostly).

40 years ago; C64 Paradroid was completed and sent off for duplication. I`m still amazed both at how quickly it was put together and how it has stood the test of time. I`ll be celebrating Paradroid until Christmas at least.

Every game needs a pagoda or two. Got a bit of colour-tuning to do, and adding some edges to the roof pieces. Shame you can`t see the lovely walls of the pagoda sides, but they are way inside the roof edges.
