Talk to the players, but honestly a good way is also use an NPC to work as a reference for the appropriate attitude in world

This way you show the lethality and consequences as the NPC fails

it's a good way to SHOW DON'T TELL for lethality and consequences

This always ensures the crit is a higher hit than a regular hit but not max which is far too swingy and gets often removed everytime it's added

Divided between Misty Step and Mage Hand, although Minor Illusion can be amazing at the right table and low levels!

Lightning BLOT sounds awesome 😅

Nothing conceptually scary, but a 4th dimensional entity (visualized as a big colourful luminous floating ooze) that could appear and reappear anywhere within 120ft radius once per turn, including on a creature, and caused damage on touch.

When the players realized this they ran.

Bonus if you are all super-powred babies, i.e level 1 characters, because you're god souls but in newborn bodies

- All Tiny
- All Adv on CHA cuz babies
- Can Long Rest every 8 hours
- If not, suffer Exhaustion and involuntarily cry
- Together the babies can cast a GOD BLAST by uniting their souls

I wonder what the wider context is? Feels like they're responding to a question

Still super good point, although avoiding extrinsic motivation alone is quite harsh, especially since a lot of good games use extrinsic AND intrisic motivation

But it's clear some games RELY on extrinsic motivation

I've enjoyed Mysery Quest a lot! No idea where it sits on the CoC podcast quality scale though

Yeah it's very meta.

While spells have the Weave, Mystra, etc

Abilities just exist because you are awesome, but that's it.

Feels underbaked, I prefer it when there's more to it

Does it also mean a commoner could learn Action Surge?

Gee I don't know might as well play a game where the characters are parasites traversing a sea of living flesh killing other parasites and infecting the landscape.

That would surely solve your issue!!
