You might be right but I hope you’re wrong. Not a fan of Gareth Taylor’s style of play and was enjoying watching it get exposed the second he had to work with Liverpool’s limited budget + players he hadn’t hand selected for his system.

It’s not just the rebuild where I think we should take inspiration from Arteta, its the culture. Look at the form players like Lewis-Skelly, Trossard, and Martinelli are in this year despite getting less minutes. It’s clear having to fight for their spot has taken them to new levels.

What does concern me is that when we do bring in younger players, we don’t seem to be incorporating them into the squad in a way which fosters any sense of jeopardy or competition in the rest of the team.

I’m not concerned by players like Goldie and Godfrey finding success elsewhere because I think its sort of enivitable that an academy like Arsenals will not be able to make good use of every single talented youngster it produces (and its probably healthy for the league that we don’t!)
