Look up literacy rates in the US, particularly in red areas. Correlation doesn't always equal causation, but I suspect this is one of those times it does.

What about the fact that the overwhelming majority of violent criminals are US citizens? Why are we demonizing immigrants for something that they do at a significantly lower rate than natural born citizens?

Making "jokes" about arresting journalists is some of the most dystopian shit I've ever seen. If an evil dictator did this in a movie I would assume it was a comedy because no one could be that disgusting, but here we are.
