A problem with the word "technocracy" is that the Trump administration is radically opposed to the good kind of technocracy (government services being managed by experts) while being aligned with the bad kind of technocracy (dictatorship by tech company executives).

What makes you think they're pretending? Lack of reading comprehension is a widespread problem especially when the misinterpretation reinforces their preexisting beliefs, and right-wing influencers are not the most intelligent bunch.

But low information voters are who need to be reached out to, high information voters already know this stuff. (And frankly are mostly Democrats.) Of course the real catch-22 is that low information voters don't pay attention to politicians so it's hard to get *any* message out to them.

Pulling the fire alarm produces concrete results which deal with the fire, evacuating the building and calling the fire department. What does educating the public about the threat to democracy accomplish? The public are not going to help us, they're just a bunch of stupid assholes.
