Frankly I’m sympathetic to all the nutjob right wingers of the 80s and 90s who hated Republicans for “not knowing what time it is in America” now that I see what it looks like from the left/center

Yes. Failure to a) prosecute elites aggressively and b) honor the promise of being a one-term president by not running again took him from a good-to-great (on policy) to terrible on long-term consequences

Lawyers and students both hate it. Discussed internally as “arms race we have to participate in or we lose” (nobody makes the obvious point that candidates are mostly fungible) and students at events are clearly panicked over what criteria are used to evaluate

I would personally accept it in a calm and rational manner. No point in getting upset and crying over spilt milk.
