Textile Fibre Artist. Also structural engineer and ‘SAHM’ but don’t like to talk about those!

A bespoke piece finished and ready to be packed for collection. I use a backing board and a large sheet of tracing paper on top to prevent snagging and then all taped and wrapped up together. This one is staying local so I don’t have to worry about shipping!

My fibre art is on the walls at Great British Revivals in Faringdon (1 Bromsgrove, SN7 7JF) :-)
If you can’t visit in person they also have a virtual tour on their website here: www.greatbritishrevivals.co.uk/new-arrivals

This little find has solved so many puzzles on my red piece.
Anyone else have that eureka moment when a painting has felt ‘stuck’ and suddenly one little thing solves it all? Sometimes I don’t even know what the question is but I know when I’ve found the answer! Artists will know how this feels 🙌

A rare full day on this one - adding, removing and trying to solve a puzzle…and then photographing it in different light and seeing new things again.

It’s been an amazing week working in the big upstairs gallery @great_british_revivals and being able to get some distance on this piece! Beats the two steps back I can achieve in my studio and it helps so much to be able to look at it from afar while I’m working on it. 😀

A water lily made with stretched silk carrier rods needle felted to a wool and silk base. One of the fibre art pieces I’m showing at Artweeks this year! Come and see - I’ll be there demonstrating too.
10-18th May, Venue 178, Faringdon. (Link in bio)

My brain dump mindmaps get me started from one word to the physical ideas for piece of fibre art. This is part of my Mood Diary series - Mental Health through the Year. Read more about this series and other my fibre art work on my blog (link in bio).

In the deep winter I just want to hibernate. Dealing with the world becomes an effort. One way I try to plan for this time of year is to have a big creative project to get stuck into for a few weeks. This piece is called ‘Stop the World’.

I listen to audiobooks and podcasts when I’m working and I’m always in the lookout for a new chunky book to get into!

My go to genres are science fiction and fantasy but historical fiction and comedy work too 🙂

Do you have any favourites to recommend? Add them to the comments 🙏

Had to move my work desk to the studio. Split personality with engineering on the left and art on the right. Keeping physical separation helps. I also have colour coded notebooks and diary entries to help my brain divide attention between jobs. It’s very inefficient but I refuse to give up the art!

More yarn laid out today - this one involves a lot of squinting to check colour and value is heading the right direction. Might have got carried away putting it on without pinning it down as I go! 🤞 I can keep the positioning when I needle it.

Love Avebury and this is my favourite spot. Though I did make my version without the tat and rubbish that people insist on leaving there :-(

Hello! I’m new here and thought I’d share something I made…
This is my sparkly ‘Golden Hare’ made using wool, silk and nylon fibres and inspired by Gustav Klimt’s portraits.
