It's how Russia does colonialism: force a Crimean to Siberia and he will be perceived by the natives as "Russian", will eventually perceive himself that way. Put a Kazakh near the Finish border, same effect. I hate using the term for something that non-deadly, but it's a form of calculated genocide.

A perfectly rational design: if they were to be sent on assault and if they were able to convince their commander that as a preparation they'd better spend 3 days building this contraption, it gave them 3 more days to live. Displacement is evil, but it's a much lesser evil than using some population as a pretext for annexation. This is amongst the lessons learned from WW2 (see relations 🇩🇪/🇨🇿), but unfortunately unlike other lessons this was never really formalized.

Quite the opposite: this looks like it's all about finding the cheapest way to down a shaheed from safely outside its blast radius. Just a dumb rocket with (presumably) a timer fuse, that's why its own blast radius is mentioned as a key feature. Might actually be cheaper than an artillery shell.

Looks like the launcher is supposed to go beneath an aircraft wing. So a tool for F-16, Mirage and MiG to hunt Shaheeds that's hopefully much cheaper than a high performance AA missile but still safer than going in close enough for guns

Tatsächlich hätte ich es damals für eine gelungene Geste gehalten als wiedervereinte Nationalhymne den Text dritten Strophe auf die Melodie der Osthymne umzupacken. Und mit 'nem Dritteljahrhundert hindsight eigentlich noch viel gelungener. Was zum Geier wollen wir mit dem österreichischen Kaiser?
