"We gather strength as we go."

(Opinions expressed not endorsed by Starfleet.)
Please don't actually acknowledge our long, long history of keeping the Federation actually running. We're not used to it and it embarrasses us.

Don't drag the Miranda-class into this.

Who doesn't?

Excellent choice.

Chekov had his moments, too.

There were also a lot of decommissioned ones in private hands.

"Recommissioning" of Mirandas- voluntary or otherwise- actually only happened a half-dozen times or so in the Dominion Warbut the idea has been used in quite a few popular holonovels...

...we prefer to say that Starfleet is quite reliant on US.

If a Miranda ain't flying apart is it really even a space battle?

(...it's okay when WE say it.)

The fact that Starfleet can build- and then customize to mission requirements- a seemingly-infinite number of Mirandas for the cost of a single Intrepid-class helps keep us relevant.

That and our cool-as-heck rollbar.

So the Chief of Logistics at the time got her start as as enlisted security...and had the scars and cybernetic arm to prove it.

The RUMOR is that she swapped the colors and pushed the new uniforms to production before anyone could stop her so that COMMAND would wear the infamous "redshirt".

DS9 had nothing to do with all the Mirandas on the front lines.

We just kept showing up and yelling "Put me in, coach!" until the admirals gave us a spot in the armada.

You're not alone in that.

The last Miranda Invasion I went to there were at least two attendees who'd tricked out their ships to look like that proposal.

I didn't get a chance to talk to either modder but the sensor readings all looked pretty normal so I ASSUME the mods were mostly cosmetic...

Mirandas are usually too busy GETTING WORK DONE to pose for photo-ops.

Mighty FINE Miranda!

I've mentioned elsewhere that we Miranda jokeys have great respect for the work that Cali crews put in.

THAT SAID we all also secretly believe that a better solution to almost every problem the Cali was meant to address was...three more Mirandas.

Seeing a Defiant-class going deep and saying "Hey, wait for us!" is peak Miranda-class behavior (respectful).

No shade on California-class. Those guys put in some WORK.

What's not to love?

There's an informal club for current and former Miranda skippers. Maybe theyshould start themselves "The Aubrey Society"?

On a lot of smaller ships an accompanied tour was an "option" in the same way that in the 20th century you could theoretically bring your family to a posting at small refueling station in northern Alaska if you REALLY wanted to get divorced the moment you were back CONUS.
January 27, 2026 at 2:35 AM
There's theoretically a "main" Miranda line with five or six official generations but in reality they're so damn customizable and have been adapted so many ways that over the past century it's evolved into less of a "product line" and more of a "product family tree from hell".

Nice thing about building Mirandas is that even the upgraded versions are mostly mature production.

Toyota WISHES they had that kinda of quality control.
