its comforting to me bc coates answers made me feel like i was just one part of a long line of justice-minded ppl. simply put, i am not alone. there were ppl before me who got me where i am today, and there will be people after me continuing my work. which means i have to continue the work for them.

wrt that klein/coates interview, i want to say that while klein thought coates' worldview was fatalistic, i actually found it comforting/relieving. like ok does it suck that political violence may not be solved in my lifetime? for sure. but it also takes the pressure off me to immediately solve it
