I also find it funny that China needs a law to force Lau's character to get his comeuppance whereas the US filmmaker just does it of his own volition. The Hong Kong ending is still the best

There's some great performances in The Departed and it's beautifully shot at times but I fully agree. It never quite managed to generate the same kind of tension and IA just has a better script (plus Tony Leung and Andy Lau are also phenomenal in it)

I really love this movie but it actually makes nobfucking sense compared to the original. Dicaprio is so blatantly the rat. In Infernal Affairs, Tony Leung is undercover for years and relatively low level in a pretty big gang. Jack Nicholson has like three guys working for him
